The number of asylum-seekers arriving in Australian waters this year is equal to the highest number under the Howard government.
The Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O'Connor yesterday confirmed the interception of the second vessel in as many days bringing the years total to 5323 refugees.
The highest number of arrivals under the Howard government was 5516 potential refugees in one year.
The Labour government is short by 197 refugees.
The Labour government is short by 197 refugees.
The Coalition's retoric is not based on fact the arrivals have not been the largest in history, it appears to be another exaggeration.
The Greens yesterday introduced a bill in the Senate to give permanent legal protection to children and unaccompanied minors to ensure they are not held in immigration detention.

ABBOTT IS PRAYING FOR A COUPLE MORE LIKE THIS ONE
BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR TO GET THE NUMBERS UP BY 197
