Opposition finance spokesman Andrew Robb wants Medibank Private to be sold, saying it would raise up to $4.5 billion and free up $660 million in recurrent budget spending over a four-year period.
The money could be used to fund restructuring the flooded areas in Australia.
Getting rid of Medibank Private would give private funds open slather, without an honest broker to compete with. Every scheme hatched by Robb benefits the private sector, with no thought for the average Joe.
This is a typical fix for the coalition, they were against the mining tax, against the NB and against every progressive thing that the present government brings up, including improving hospitals and schools.
If the wheel was invented in this country we would still be dragging ourselves around on lumps of tree trunk.
Innovation is not a strong point of the Coalition, as for telephony we would still be using two tin cans and a piece of string.
