JULIA Gillard has condemned those responsible for death threats against independent MP Tony Windsor as un-Australian.
The country independent MP has revealed he has received death threats over his support for Labor's climate change framework.
Mr Windsor played a recording of one of the phone calls of which there were many, in which a caller said: "You're a f***ing liar, a dog, a rat ... I hope you die, you bastard."
The Prime Minister said today such threatening behaviour was unacceptable in Australia.
"Of course there is no excuse in a society like ours for people making threats concerning acts of violence," Ms Gillard said.
"There is absolutely no excuse for that. It's not part of our democracy, it's not part of the Australian way."
So far Tony Abbott has not chastised his colleagues in the National Party of inciting such behavior by exaggerating the effects of and a carbon price or tax.
These threats are the direct result of this campaign of fear being promoted by the Coalition.
No figures have been released and indeed they have not even been decided on yet.
This is dangerous politics, there are enough nutters who will believe that the world will end if any action is taken on climate change and they are crazy enough to do something stupid.
Can't we please have a proper debate when the figures are released...then and only then will there really be something to debate.
we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."
