A lifeboat was launched after receiving a distress signal at sea, only to find A SURPRISE!
A three-hour search by the Anglesey-based Moelfre lifeboat crew took place off the Welsh coast before it was discovered an anti-theft tracking device on a BMW car, which was parked on a Dublin to Liverpool ferry, set off the signal.
Mark Craddock, a coastguard spokesman, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "We were called by police to say a tracking device signal had been detected four miles out at sea.
"There had been a signal and then it had gone so we feared a boat could have sunk - we had to treat it as the worst possible scenario."
