A church is refusing to change a light bulb because it says health and safety rules mean it would cost £500 to change the £2 bulb.
Health and Safety even trumps the all mighty.
So the inner secrets of the church will remain in the dark, as will the parishioners and the Rector until the lights really go out!
Once enough lights go out as someone once said let there be light.
Yes it needs to get very dark before the Parish can afford the £500 for scaffolding that meets regulations.
The 30ft internal roof which is closer to god than us mere mortals at ground level is at St Mary's Church in Cottingham, Humberside.
The church has apparently been flouting the rules for years.
The church says the rules mean they cannot simply use ladders to change the bulb.
IT'S THE MODERN WAY LORD
WE MUST FOLLOW THE WAY, OH LORD
