World's best winemaker? Australian, of course
A HUNTER Valley winemaker has been named international winemaker of the year at a ceremony in London.
McGuigan Wines took the title for the second time in three years at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. The company was also named Australian producer of the year at a gala ceremony yesterday (Melbourne time).
Chief winemaker Neil McGuigan said the result outshone his previous win in 2009. ''To have won … once is phenomenal, but to be recognised by our industry peers twice in just three years is mind-blowing,'' he said. Winemakers from more than 80 countries took part.
