Extended Warranty, a rip off?
A study by the consumer watchdog in England has found big differences in the prices charged by retailers for warranty and specialist firms that provide warranty.
For example, three years cover on a £349.99 washing machine would cost £159 with Dixons, compared to £54.99 with SquareTrade, via Amazon.
A study found that a three-year warranty on an iPad 2 was up to 59 per cent cheaper with SquareTrade compared to other providers.
Similarly, three years cover on a £399 TV would be £136 with Shop Direct, versus just £39.90 with Richer Sounds.
A three-year warranty on an iPad 2 was up to 59 per cent cheaper with SquareTrade compared to other providers.
The Warranty Care company was up to 55 per cent cheaper for cover on washing machines than Dixons, while laptop warranties were up to 41 per cent cheaper with GadgetCover than Dixons and Comet.
