The shame of Alan Jones

Journalist or garbage disposal unit, probable the latter given what happens when he opens his mouth.
This man(I use this word despairingly) should be banned from the airways, his remarks about the PM and various other well known women are well known.
The young Liberals who sat there and listened to his diatribe are likely to run this country, well ladies the future does not look rosy should they ever be elected.

Tony Abbott should remove Alan Jones from all connections with the Coalition or he also will be tarnished with the same brush.

The electorate is already uneasy about his interaction with women, his attacks on the PM, he must now distance himself and his party from this waste disposal unit.

(This is a device that should never be used in public, we will not be held liable for any repercussions)

INDONESIA four soldiers convicted of people smuggling.

The Jakarta Post, Surabaya | Archipelago | Thu, September 27 2012, 8:52 PM

Four soldiers have been dismissed and put behind bars for helping some 250 illegal migrants pass through Tulungagung sub district in East Java on their way to seeking asylum in Australia.
The four members of the Indonesian Army’s community affairs personnel were charged under Article 120 of the 2011 Immigration Law.
The case emerged after the boat carrying the immigrants sank in Trenggalek waters, East Java. Of the passengers 84 were confirmed dead, 49 survived while the rest were declared missing.
Second Sgt. (Serda) Cornelis Nama was sentenced to six years' imprisonment and was ordered to pay Rp 500 million (US$9.39 million) in fines, according to presiding judge Lieut. Col. Affandi, who read out the verdict at the Madiun Military Court on Thursday.
Chief Sergeant Choirul Anama, Chief Corporal Kariadi and Chief Warrant Officer Sosiali were each sentenced to five years in prison and issued Rp 500 million fines.
Cornelis claimed them to be scapegoats in the case, given that the bus carrying the asylum seekers had not been intercepted by any other officers guarding the route from Jakarta to Tulungagung.
“Policemen and other officials definitely played a role. The immigrants had no problem on their way from Jakarta, meaning that there was a syndicate helping them. We are just the victims,” he said before being taken back to his cell.
This was apparently a well organized syndicate and many more people may be involved.
On Monday, the Military Court dismissed and sentenced the smuggling coordinator, Second Sergeant Ilmun Abdul Said, to six years in jail and Rp 500 million in fines. (yps)
The Military in Indonesia are obviously trying to crack down on smuggling operations, as they have become an embarrassment to the governments of Indonesia and its neighbour Australia.

ISRAEL Threatens US of A with IRANIAN doomsday!

Binyamin Netanyahu holding bomb to US once again.
(Will the US jump to Israel's demands again)

Binyamin Netanyahu
Israel’s prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu fuels the fires of war as he illustrates his fears about Iran during an address to the United Nations general assembly in New York.
Israel's prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has called on the international community to set a "clear, red line" to stop Iran making a nuclear weapon, because he knows that Israel cannot strike a blow without the US, he claimed that Iran would reach his red line as early as next spring.
It appears that he is trying to goad the US into war as early as possible.
He will not be successful because they are not in the mood to begin another war. No administration in Washington has a taste for another misadventure so soon.
Although the Israeli lobby in the US has a lot of clout and they appear to be able to wag the big dog, parties of all persuasion are not amused by Binyamin Netanyahu's latest antics.
Should Iran progress towards a nuclear capability it will be the US who decides what action it will take, not this obnoxious leader of another country who does not even know what the word diplomacy means.
America must be tired of being at the beckon call of Israel, and now because in the middle east times are a changing Israel may not remain such an important key to the future for the US in the area.
Netanyahu should learn the word diplomacy and begin to use it or...you never can for tell the future Binyamin, remember that!

GREECE..Want to buy it, yes you can.

GREECE you want it, you name it, we'll sell it

WHEN you hit hard times, it is time to sell or pawn part or all the family silver, and a clearance sale is about to begin in Athens.

Yes, Greece has just announced it will sell anything it can do without that is not nailed down, that means letting go of islands, royal palaces, prime real estate, marinas, airports, roads, the state-owned gas company, lottery and post office.

Anything worth anything that can be sold will be sold.

This includes diplomatic residences abroad. ''We will lease or sell properties that for some reason are not being used.''(Could this say something about why Greece is broke)

Ministry's finance department was hard at work evaluating ''market conditions''.

The sell-off mentioned on Wednesday, a day after Athens' finance minister revealed what all Greeks feared but had not been officially told: with national income projected to fall 25 per cent by 2014.

Officials are now working frantically to get a fire sale off the ground.

For potential buyers of ambassadorial homes and consul's quarters, the good news is that the Foreign Ministry is fully aware of what and where the properties are.

Just as well because the Greek government, until recently was struggling to attain an inventory of what it owned because there was no proper land registry.(No wonder they're going broke)

Greek money is what it used to be!

DEFENCE and control, these two things don't mix.

DEFENCE secretary Duncan Lewis may be thinking of resigning.
Apparently Mr Lewis is preparing to resign as early as Tuesday, citing frustration with the reluctance of the federal government to clarify funding for major new weapons systems, along with planned funding cuts.
Mr Lewis commanded at all levels of the Australian Army after graduating from the Royal Military College at Duntroon in 1975.

Perhaps this is a good background for his present position, however it also tells me that he is very pro defence and he would not be amenable to the strict constraints put on defence at this time.

Let's remember that successive governments have tried to drag Defence into the world of proper budget management, the blow out in costs of major Defence contracts is unbelievable, this has continued for years.
Defence has done what it likes for years and no government has ever been able to reign it in.
"As things stand I don't think we are structured or postured appropriately to meet our likely strategic circumstances in future," Mr Lewis told the dinner audience in Canberra.
Mr Lewis warned the services ran the risk of becoming irrelevant.

Could it be that he is telling us that Defence needs a shake up, if so why doesn't he come out and say just that, no I'm afraid he's saying the same thing we have heard for years.

Reading between the lines, this is the same line rolled out every time Defence are asked meet budgets, we are told by Defence that any budget control threatens our countries security.
His military career is outstanding including commanding the Special Air Service Regiment and his last military appointment was as a major general as the Special Operations Commander Australia, leading forces engaged in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also became Australia's first National Security Adviser in December 2008.

Does this make him a good departmental secretary, I'm not so sure, maybe he'll make his reasons clearer if and when he moves on.

We like big guns, bad puns, and never use one bullet when a full clip will do.

MUSLIM Reactions--More harm than good!

The reaction of sections of the Muslim community around the world has done nothing but fire anti-Muslim feelings across the world.
The video that caused this outrage is disgusting and should never been shown, even Christians are shocked by this material.

Apparently some Muslims aren't aware of how hard it is to stop such material being loaded onto the Internet,  we have all seen things such as this slip onto the net before they are noticed.

Blaming America, Germany and England does nothing to promote Islam, in fact it does the opposite, it reinforces some people's thinking that all Muslims are uneducated terrorists.

The Muslim community in Australia should come out and strongly and condemn the hysterical behaviour we have seen around the world.

The attack on the American embassy looks to me as if it was planned in advance, not just an angry mob.

Was it just a coincidence that it was timed to coincide as close to the anniversary of 9/11 as possible.
The idiot in the US that made the video gave the terrorists a gift to good to miss.

Certain extremist terrorist groups would be overjoyed at how easy it has been to inflame and manipulate uneducated people into acts of violence so that they can carry out their mission.

What of the future?

Gina Rinehart's Rule, you never know?

I wonder, could this be Gina Rinehart's employment guidelines

-It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary. If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a pay raise.

-If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a pay raise.

-If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a pay raise.

-We will no longer accept a doctor's certificate as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

-Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturday and Sunday.

-This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends, relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend to the arrangements.

In rare cases where employee involvement is necessary, the funeral should be scheduled in the late afternoon or on a weekend. We will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and subsequently leave one hour early if it must be in the afternoon.

-Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three minute time limit in the cubicles.

-At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the cubicle door will open, and your picture will be taken.

-After your second offence, your picture will be posted on the company notice board under the "Chronic Offenders" category.

-Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sanctioned under the company's mental health policy.

-Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more so that they can look healthy.

-Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.

-Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

As long as you are an employee here, you need all your organs. You should not consider removing anything. We hired you intact. To have something removed constitutes a breach of employment.

-Any employee caught filing complaints to these matters will be framed and terminated expeditiously.

All personal Internet usage will be recorded and charges will be deducted from your bonus (if any) and if we decide not to give you any, charges will be deducted from your salary. Note: charges applicable as $3 per minute as we have a fast connection.

-73% of staff will not be entitled to any salary for next 3 months as their Internet charges have exceeded their 3 months salary.

-In the event of labour pains, you will be allowed to go to the first aid room when the pains are FIVE MINUTES apart. If it is false labour, the time taken will deducted from your salary and you will be required to pay a fine for claiming time off using a false reason.

This will be accepted as an excuse, BUT two weeks' notice is required as we feel it is your duty to teach someone your job.Should you not inform us within the prescribed time we will lodge a claim against your estate.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. Remember we are an employer of choice and we are here to provide a positive employment experience.

All questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation and input should be directed elsewhere because you must agree our caring attitude is second to none.

Abbott's memory, when a memory is not a memory.

We all remember his famous statement, if its not in written down you shouldn't believe what I say.
(I bet he's sorry he ever said that)

Tony Abbott's memory loss very convenient, he can attack women politician's and others continuously yet any mention of anything that he may have been involved in is nothing but muck raking.

Why doesn't he admit that the wall incident could have happened, although he doesn't remember the details.

Now that would be believable, because most guys can relate to thinking of punching a wall at some stage or another.

Strange, when the Coalition mentions something about the past of a government member of parliament, it is not muck raking.(I wonder what it's called then?)

Tony Abbott starting slinging muck from the day he lost the last election, he is a very bad looser, he had  offered everything to the Independents and they didn't take him up on the offer, so he still lost.

For the days following the election his bottom jaw looked like a carpet sweeper it was so low.

Its not beyond my imagination to think of him punching holes in walls years ago, because he must have been very tempted to modify the odd wall at parliament house after the last election.

Name changing is the name of the game for this super trawler
(This boat has fished every ocean and been banned from many)
Oh! By the way I believe it's subsidised by the EU

Super trawler--Name change for Australia
it has been known as....
Annelies Ilena
Atlantic Star
Siberian Enterprise
and now Abel Tasman?
"Is this only the first of many Super trawlers"

September 9, 1999 | In a victory for fish and fishermen, the Atlantic Star, the huge factory trawler eyeing the East Coast herring and mackerel fisheries, has called it quits. By trading in her U.S. flag for a Dutch flag and changing her name to the Anellias Ilena, the Atlantic Star has surrendered its right to fish in U.S. waters.

Wilson Tuckey(ex Coalition,and no Greeny)

The extent of the destruction of fish breeding stocks is best exemplified by the collapse of the North Sea cod fishery as century old practices of handline fishing were progressively replaced by vessels and the technology encompassed in the Margiris super trawler.
It is worth noting that after years of sustainable fishing and “Cod Wars” as Iceland tried to protect its industry from super trawlers, they all returned for another season of exploitation and caught no fish at all.Not Half or a Quarter of past averages but virtually overnight the fishery had collapsed.
My take
I look at this this whole episode is a little different, forget the implications of over fishing(which are bad enough), what about the local fishing industry, do we want to sea our small fishing communities devastated.
Maybe I'm strange but I love to visit small harbours and sea the small boats preparing to sail, or the blessing of the fleet.
These small places will become ghost towns, why, because these large boats do not use small towns at all.
Sure they're efficient, forget peoples jobs and sustainability for small fishing villages, they're only people!

Some hands on experience by a deck hand

New Zealand'er Matthew Zonderop, has worked on the super-trawlers and says everything should be done to keep them out of our waters.
"We are asking for trouble, they will just plunder us, take everything and go," he said.
Zonderop, who began on North Atlantic super-trawlers as a deck hand and rose to become a mate, says a single super-trawler could take in just under a month New Zealand's entire 120,000 tonne hoki annual allowable catch.
It could take one of the key southern blue whiting annual quotas in a single voyage.
"These ships are really efficient, they take everything they target," he said.
"Our New Zealand fishery does not have the sustainability of the North Sea and North Atlantic.... We don't have that and our fish stakes wouldn't sustain a trawler of that size."
Zonderop said when he first went into a herring fishery north of Iceland, they were taking fish as big as his arm; within five years they were only as big as his hand.
"It was pure greed; the people who ran the boats did not know the word sustainability once stock decrease it seems they moved on and change the name once again."

"They are very efficient and very ruthless."In cold waters, such as the North Sea, the super trawlers had very low by-catches and he believed it would be the same chasing pelagic species around New Zealand and Australia.
Super-trawlers had 1.5 kilometres long nets with very wide openings and powerful engines. With their sonars they could quickly identify mid-ocean schools of fish and sweep them in.

Australian slant on Bill Clinton's speech

These are some extracts from Bill Clinton's speech, I thought he was describing the Coalition in Australia, because these parties seem to mirror one another, it's as if they don't realize that governments are there to carry out things that individuals alone cannot do, like spending on schools hospitals and infrastructure.
I wonder would we ever have had the Snowy scheme or the highways or railways. What about Medicare, I could go on, but the right wing is now in charge of the Coalition, even Malcolm Turnbull is not listened to anymore.

"A winner-take-all, you're-on-your-own society".
His description of Republicans..."Read Coalition"

"What works in the real world is cooperation".
His description of Democrats...(Read Labor)

"Unfortunately, the faction that now dominates the Republican Party(Read Coalition)   doesn't see it that way.

" They think government is always the enemy," he said, "and compromise is weakness."
 This description is uncanny..think Coalition.

"Advancing equal opportunity and economic empowerment is both morally right and good economics”, say Democrats (Read Labor)

“The Republicans(Read Coalition)
Want to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires!

“The most important question is, what kind of country do you want to live in?” Clinton asked.
This is the same question Australians should be asking!

“If you want a winner-take-all,  you’re-on-your-own government, you should support the Republicans (Read Coalition)

"If you want a country of shared opportunity and shared responsibility, and a we’re-all-in-this-together society, you should vote for Democrats
(Read Labor)

AUSTRALIAN's ARE SICK OF KINDERGARTEN PARLIAMENT..Malcolm Turnbull tells it like it is...and yes we're sick of crap!

Cartoon: Ron Tandberg.

Most Australians believed important issues were being overlooked or routinely misrepresented in parliament. All too often the system rewarded spin, exaggeration and misstatements.

Take the hopeless, confused, hyper-partisan nature of the climate change debate for example..

In 2010 Mr Turnbull crossed the floor to vote in support of Labor's emissions trading scheme.

He also said Australians were ashamed of the parliament, seeing it as ''nothing more than a forum for abuse, catcalling and spin''.

''If you love your country … and care deeply about our nation's future, there is nothing more certain to arouse your fury and invite your contempt than listening to an entire House of Representatives question time'', Mr Turnbull said.

Yes Malcolm, your right.  I have been saying the same thing for months, have things changed no not a bit. Parliamentary question time has descended into a farce with almost every question directed at the PM.

The nitty gritty questioning of ministers does not take place any more, is the efficient running of government departments not important any more. This is the job of an opposition, a job not being carried out at all.

Everything it seems is directed to score cheap shots or to create embarrassment, it is no wonder no one knows what the opposition stands for, if they are the alternative government can they dispense with their nappies and grow up...please!

There is almost nowhere else where the incentives to be untruthful or to purposefully mislead are so great as in our present parliament in 2012.

Alcohol could not be purchased in Canberra, residents had to make a regular trips to the pubs of near Queanbeyan or the Cricketers Arms near Hall. Later there was a referendum and Canberra residents voted for grog and the sale of alcohol. The first shipment of beer arrived soon after with great relief.

Blade runners with two blades are not in the same class as other amputees, they should be in a class of their own.
Single amputees are at a huge disadvantage.

Oscar Pistorius came second toAlan Oliveira in the T44 200-metre final in London yesterday, there were unfortunate comments made afterwards that should have not been aired at that time.
As for the result remember if Oscar had run as fast as he did in the heat he would have WON.(tough luck Oscar)
The hype about  Oscar Pistorius over shadowed everything else.

However if you watched the race the most obvious thing was the difference between the double blade runners and the rest.

This has to be changed for future games

Compare this balance to a single amputee...the weight of one leg changes everything..DON'T MAKE THEM COMPETE IN THE SAME CLASS......FIX IT

Big brother is watching, if your acting for Assange

Lawyer for Assange detained.

A lawyer acting for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange says she was stopped at Heathrow and  told that she was on a secret watch-list and required special clearance before she could board her plane.
Australian Jennifer Robinson said she was left stunned after being told  by an airline crew that she was on an ‘inhibited person list’ that means she must have ‘done something controversial’.
Australian government says it has no knowledge, however their attitude toes the line with Washington and London so why aren't we surprised by this incident. They didn't know, I wonder?
