Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry"s Peter Anderson says no to NDIS. "I wonder have you ever been disabled Peter!"

Peter Anderson, the chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry thinks the NDIS is gilt edged.

Australians do not need a ''gilt-edged'' National Disability Insurance Scheme and Julia Gillard would be making a ''big mistake'' if she raised the Medicare levy to pay for one.

''We don't necessarily need the gilt-edged scheme if we actually can't afford it,'' said Peter Anderson, the chief executive of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

While disability advocates support the idea of introducing a new levy to fund the $15 billion-a-year scheme, Mr Anderson said as far as the business community was concerned, the NDIS should be scaled back.

''The funding of it through a proposed levy would be a big mistake,'' Mr Anderson told Fairfax Media on Tuesday.

His comments come after Finance Minister Penny Wong confirmed on Tuesday that Labor was considering raising the Medicare levy to help pay for its National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The Coalition, supports the scheme.

But the government spends too much in Australia

The government spends too much.

Edited Tim Colebatch Article

All of us can think of areas where we think it should cut spending. Equally, we can all think of areas where it should spend more.
The International Monetary Fund estimates that, excluding east Asian countries where welfare is left to the family, Australia already has the second lowest spending of any Western country, behind only Switzerland.

We will have to spend more in future, as our population ages, and more of baby boomers are supported by taxpayers for healthcare, age pensions and nursing homes, while paying little or no tax.
We will have to spend more, one way or other, if we are to get the transport infrastructure we want.

The Gillard government has been financially game in hoping or pretending that our current tax base can support our current spending, even though a year ago it probably would have, now it is not so.

There are looming increases in spending for the aged, then money for the Gonski reforms to school spending (I'm sure this could be phased in over a longer period)and the national disability insurance scheme, both are very important but the time frame is the problem.

Something's got to give. We cannot support this level of spending while this is the level of revenue is being raised.

Whether you support deep spending cuts or serious tax rises, or a combination of both, is a matter of political preference. We should look for both.

In the end, it's not the deficit that matters, it's the economy which in its self is still strong.

Britain's new Tory government has put its economy into recession by trying to get rid of a budget deficit at any cost.

Let's hope the Coalition doesn't go down that path and over react. We won't know until it lays out what it would do.

Their parental leave scheme is ridiculously generous and I am sure they are kicking themselves for ever mentioning it!

COALITION...NO,NO,NO. New ideas do not compute.

WE ARE PUSHING TONY
I AM PULLING JOE
I THINK WE GOT IT HALF RIGHT?

COALITION REPEATS OLD MANTA
BEREFT OF NEW IDEAS

JOE Hockey says Labor can't afford to fund its Gonski reforms or the national disability insurance scheme, following news of a $12 billion write-down in revenue forecasts to be detailed by Julia Gillard today.
Come on Joe every commentator knew approximately what the figure would be, it's no shock, your looking for an excuse to axe the two best policies the Australian public has been offered for years.
Conservative in nature conservative in ideas, in other words, don't fix it until its utterly broken, wow, that's forward conservative thinking. Education, don't touch it until it's dead and the Disability insurance, which is crying out for action, what do, you do scrap it!
The opposition treasury spokesman said the government was failing to address structural problems in the budget while electing to keep spending as if the money was still rolling in.
(Excuse me there is still money coming in, unless of course you don't pay tax?
“The problem is that in the one breath the Prime Minister says she hasn't got enough revenue coming in, and in the other breath, she's saying she wants to spend more money, much more money, in areas like disability care and education and so on,” he said.(Education and Disability, how wasteful?)
Compared to most countries in the world our deficits are negligible, why over react, steady as she goes that's the only reaction required.
Joe your party just doesn't know how to be inventive, that's why your only invention is the GST(mind you even that wasn't your original idea)
The problem is that this expenditure is not sustainable over the longer term if the government has falling revenue, so, what's wrong with these policies put forward by the government, nothing, in fact they are investments in Australia's future, because without action being taken we will fall behind the rest of the world.

ANZAC WARS AGAIN AND AGAIN...WHAT RUBBISH!

ANZAC WARS

Peter Cosgrove is emerging as the man most likely to replace Australia's first female governor-general.(What has Anzac wars to do with him, not much.)

Christopher Pyne is playing politics again, why, nobody knows.

Most Australian would not oppose his appointment, however would this guy really like to be drawn into drivel about which history is important and which is not, I don't think so.

Now we have  Christopher Pyne saying that under a future Coalition government, its intent on putting the Anzac tradition above indigenous history.

What's the beef Christopher, has your brain stop working again, why are you suggesting the Anzac tradition is not placed well above indigenous history.

Ask almost anyone about indigenous history and the reply will be a blank look, what history?

Ask them about Anzac Day, everyone knows it's what it stands for.

General Cosgrove's name has emerged from a phantom political row that never existed, this is over Australia's next head of state, this is after the government has already ruled out any new appointee until after the election.

The vice-regal stoush came as opposition education spokesman Christopher Pyne appeared to re-open the so-called ''history wars'' which raged during the Howard years.

He is attacking the school curriculum for putting Aboriginal and multicultural commemoration days on the same level as Anzac Day.

Anzac Day will never be replaced, unless with passing of time there are no more wars and that is hard to believe..

The national curriculum would be reviewed under a Coalition government, he said. ''The Coalition believes that, on balance, Australia's history is a cause for celebration,'' he said.

I'm sure we all agree on that score.

We must not allow a confidence-sapping 'black armband' view of our history to take hold, says Christopher.

Black armband view, Christpher what the hell are you taking about?

He suggests ''That history, while inclusive of indigenous history(he does recognize their existence), must highlight the pivotal role of the political and legal institutions from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.''

I'm sorry Christopher, I thought Anzac Day was about all Australians who have fought in conflicts everywhere.

England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.'' have their own special days!

ABBOTT'S TOE(OR IS TOW) BACK POLICY..A JOKE THAT'S BACKFIRING BEFORE IT STARTS!

Indonesia "not happy Jan" over Abbott  tow-back policy:

SMH

A senior member of the Indonesian government has suggested that Opposition Leader Tony Abbott's policy to turn back asylum seekers boats may harm Australia's relationship with Indonesia.

The opposition has long held the position that it would turn back boats with the help of the Australian Navy, where it is ''safe to do so''.

At the weekend, Mr Abbott said that most of the asylum-seeker vessels arriving in Australian waters were crewed by Indonesians.

''If a boat gets turned around outside of Indonesia's waters, and then turns up again at the Indonesian port from which it had come, that surely is just simply a matter of course,'' Mr Abbott said.

On Monday, Mahfudz Siddiq, the head of Indonesia's parliamentary commission for foreign affairs, said that Mr Abbott's comments demonstrated that the Opposition Leader ''doesn't understand the problem''.

''This kind of opinion disrespects the talks we have already had which have been very productive. With wrong perception, even Indonesia could pull out from these co-operative agreements regarding people smuggling.''

An Australian Admiral stated, that nobody is capable of stopping every boat from landing on our shores.

There is a very big ocean out there and it is just to big an area to police, no matter how many ships we put to sea.

It's just an impossible task.
You said no boats at all Tony you goose!

"NOW WE'RE BOTH IN THE S**T OVER BOATS"
"ANYWAY WHO STARTED THIS BLOODY THING"
"IT WAS B****Y HOWARD WASN'T IT"     "NOT US"

Canberra Clubs carry proof of identification one step to far!

We're only 16 We're good at make up though!
Club policy on identification in the A.C.T.
Is a step to far!
Recently friends took an overseas visitor to a Canberra club, now the visitor was in their 50's. The person at the reception desk asked to see identification, a drivers license or some other form of identification.

Now the visitor as it happens does not drive and did not have a passport with them, (mind you the person wasn't sure a passport would be good enough) the person at the desk refused the visitor entry to the club, even though the visitor was accompanied by a club member who could vouch for them.
The club has a policy dictated by law,SO THEY SAY that they must see proof of identity for age, REALLY, no discretion at all!

If the proof of identity I am told is for the purposes of proof of age, why when someone is middle aged should they require proof at all.

Now I know that now most clubs have machines to swipe your license, but surely they have enough discretion or common sense to enable them  to bypass this system.

Do they really think that teenagers will masquerade as middle aged just to get a drink, what a load of rubbish!

FIX IT, THIS IS STUPID

CANBERRA-Hospitals refuse information to relatives over the phone.

Hospitals in the A.C.T. are refusing to give information over the phone to loved ones about relatives who are admitted, why, in case Radio Jocks are doing a 'Royal',yes its true I have been told it is hospital policy.

A.C.T. Hospitals have gone banana's, after the episode in England with the Royal's they have made a policy of not giving out information about anyone over the phone.

So if your husband, son or daughter is in an accident and you are told they have been taken to hospital you now have to go to the hospital. I assume that you have to have to show appropriate identification also.

Should you make a phone call and offer verbal identification, or personal details about who you are, you will be told that this is not adequate and no matter what you tell them you will not be believed, why because you could be anybody.

Yes this is true, I'm not making it up, should you be elderly, a relative or someone who does not have transport you will be left in the dark about your loved one.

WHAT A DRACONIAN POLICY, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT ROYALTY
WE ARE TALKING ABOUT LOVED ONES WHO WE CARE ABOUT THIER OWN.
ALL YOU ARE DOING IS HURTING PEOPLE WHO CARE

Why are they doing this, because a couple of DJ's rang a hospital in England, what a load of rubbish.

SO NOW PEOPLE IN CANBERRA ARE BEING DENIED INFORMATION BECAUSE OF A STUPID PRANK BY DJ's

AUSTRALIAN Education......The dumb and dumber Alternative!

WOW... ABBOTT SAYS 'NO' AGAIN
IS THIS NEWS?

The Coalition will scrap the Gonksi education reforms if elected. Opposition Leader Tony Abbott says the education changes are too expensive.
Unnecessary because there is no fundamental problem with the way schools are funded.

He says,''In the absence of anything which is clearly, dramatically, better and affordable, dramatically better, I think we are better fine-tuning the existing system(As we've always done forever and it hasn't worked) rather than trying to turn the whole thing on its head,'' (In other word if its a complete wreck and provided we know it is, its okay, so leave it alone).

Mr Abbott also listed greater autonomy for principals, higher teaching standards and a smaller education bureaucracy as some of the cheaper changes that could be made.(The present government has already gone down this path).

He said he would maintain the changes to university funding the government announced this month as a way of paying for the extra money to give to primary and secondary schools.
''I don't think anyone should expect those cuts to be reversed,'' Mr Abbott said.

SO NOW WE HAVE THE GOVERNMENT AND THE COALITION SLASHING UNIVERSITY FUNDING.
ARE OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES REALLY THAT DUMB.
WHAT A NO BRAIN ER !
Are we locking children into ''being left behind'', by not planning for the future and do we really think you can divorce Universities from schooling.

SO.... THIS IS A CHOICE?
WHAT CHOICE?

DUMB AND DUMBER

YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE IN GAOL. YOU'D BE BETTER OFF!

THE NEW AGE
"AGED CARE SYSTEM"

Anonymous: with my edits

Let's put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home, this way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks, they'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment.

Wheel chairs etc would be provided and they'd receive money instead of paying it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.

Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.

A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell.

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose, they would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counselling, pool and education.

Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free.

On request, private, secure rooms would be provided for all.

An exercise outdoor yard, with gardens, each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls.

There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

Now this would be a big step up from the senior aged care nursing establishments that presently exist.
THINK ABOUT IT, IT MAKES SENSE, DOESN'T IT!
Who's laughing now

Kill the poor and caring and it will fix the budget. WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!

A FACELESS LIBERAL'SS THOUGHTS

This is an article published by a Liberal Party-aligned think tank that advocates killing off the poorest 20 per cent of Australians as a way to get the budget back on track.

A ''modest cull of the enormously poor'' has been suggested by right-wing business lobbyist .

This is his tongue-in-cheek opinion piece written in reaction to the federal government's attack on the ''fabulously wealthy'' through superannuation taxes. Tongue in cheek, maybe these are his true feelings for the less well off.

''They consume more than they contribute, putting tremendous strain on the national budget.''In contrast to the fabulously rich, the enormously poor make little useful contribution to society,'' he wrote.

''A modest cull would strike at the root of our fiscal dilemma. If the least productive 20 per cent of citizens were decommissioned it would directly release a recurrent $25 billion."

''This bold initiative would rid us of indolent students, hapless single mums, lower-order drug dealers, social workers, performance artists, Greenpeace supporters and the remaining processing personnel in our collapsing yet heavily subsidised manufacturing industries and ALSO the disabled.''

Was this a funny joke or the underlying tenderness of the Liberal Party towards the wealthy individuals in Australia.

She had guts for garters

MAC.jpg
'If only she could've donated a fraction of her guts and determination to today's politicians.'

CRYING MOURNERS OR CRYING FOR JOY?

MARGARET THATCHER
"THE FUNERAL"
Heavy hands and heavy hearts.

Protesters could be arrested for "alarming or distressing" mourners at the funeral of Baroness Thatcher, a police chief in charge of security at the event has warned.
Commander Christine Jones warned that officers had power under the controversial section 5 of the Public Order Act to step in if non-violent action was the cause of "harassment, alarm or distress"(distress, come on, does that mean that if someone cries they will arrest people in the crowd)as Thatcher's coffin makes its way through London to St Paul's Cathedral.
A group of Liverpool football fans attending an away match against Reading sang: "Lets all do the conga, Thatcher is a gonna …" A banner in the stadium read: "You didn't care when you lied, we didn't care when you died."
Five arrests were made by the 1,700 police present. Around 3,000 people gathered in a rainy Trafalgar Square on Saturday night to "celebrate" Thatcher's death. The protest passed off relatively trouble-free
Scotland Yard has already asked protesters planning to turn their backs on the coffin as the funeral carriage passes to let them know in advance.(perhaps they will have to have a permit to turn around)
The director of Liberty, said she was concerned that the police should focus on public order and not make judgement calls about manners.
Some will question the taste of funeral protests, while others will see them as inevitable at such a public political event.
The authorities however should have no role in policing people's manners, and it would be beyond tasteless if the memorial of any democratic leader prompted arrests of peaceful protesters and the strangling of dissent."
Heavy handed, is this the reminder of Thatcherism that people want cling to, I don't think so.

SYDNEY WILL KEEP YOU BROKE

LOVE IT ,OR HATE IT!
IT'S JUST TO PRICEY!

Heckler

Sydney, we love you, but if they keep on pushing your prices up, I'm afraid it will all be over.

Some recent examples:
One portion of fish and chips at Circular Quay - $42. Same place, one medium-sized bottle of fizzy water - $10.50.

Carmen on the harbour is amazing, but four beef pasties and four soft drinks coming in at almost $100? You have to be joking!

One beef pastie (you can call it an empanada, but it's still a pastie) - $18.

Then there's half a day's parking in George Street - $75 - we've gone stark raving mad.

Wait what about about the monopoly airport car park.  We all know about that little outrage. It's just that the rest of the city seems to be following suit.

I've been looking at what some overseas visitors think.

They've been to Sydney before. They are regulars to London and Paris and Rome. But they've never, never come across prices like they have experienced this week in Sydney.
Sydney, when you start making Paris look cheap, we have a problem.
Okay so I overdid the profit a little!

THATCHER IS DEAD, YES ITS TRUE.....mmmm...is the ISM still alive and well?

There was once a small planet that was called England, then once upon a time a strange being evolved, it was called a "Thatcher", it was very rare, none have been discovered since.

This "Thatcher" became all powerful and thence forth was known as the "Divine One" and she gathered many Thatcherites(believers) to her cause.

Thatcher changed the name of the planet that was once known as England to a new name one that better reflected her wishes, she changed its name to Englondonia.(the name Londengland was also considered)

"London" where the Divine One called "Thatcher" lived with her diciples was only a small area of the planet, however the Divine One decreed that the planet was to be divided into two sections one called North and the other London.

Now this was not a large planet, there was no geological formations that divided the two halves, yet the "Divine One" decreed that the smaller London part of the planet should have bestowed upon it all the riches of the whole planet.

The inhabitants of the North didn't like the arbitrary division of wealth in this way and rebelled.

The Divine One because of her supreme intellect brought the forces of righteousness called the police down upon the North.
The wrath of Thatcher was brought down upon them, and so, they were defeated mightily, they never really recovered from this terrible defeat.

As time came to pass the Divine One was dethroned, even her disciples rebelled against her and cast her out to the wilderness.

Once again the planet regained its proper name ENGLAND.

In the year 2013 the Divine One, (whom we now know is not immortal) was taken by a mere common stroke, one that other mere mortals die of, so even though we have been taught from childhood that she was immortal it was finally proved wrong.

There are still some Thatcherites in  England and some have even achieved high office, however it is doubtful if they will ever follow the teachings of the Divine One blindly, for they have seen that even being divine does not mean you will always win.

News Flash: 2013
Beware it is rumoured that a clandestine group of Thatcherites have infiltrated the Tory party and are trying to take control.

A Shocking story of Shocking Undies

This underwear delivers a real shock!

Following the violent gang-rape of a New Delhi woman last year that made international headlines, engineering students in India have created anti-rape underwear that they say will prevent sexual assault.

Called Society Harnessing Equipment, or SHE, the device will deliver up to 82 electric shocks of 3800 kV to an attacker.

To prevent the wearer from being shocked, SHE's inner side is "insulated with a polymer" That hopefully work as well as anticipated.

The device is also equipped with GPS that can deliver alerts to police and the victim's parents.

"Lawmakers take ages to come up with just laws and even after that, women are unsafe," said the inventors.

"Hence, we have initiated the idea of self-defence, which protects the women from domestic, social and workplace harassment."

They have not stated the cost or if the garments need to be fitted and tested to ensure safety.

No colour range has been announced, however they think shocking pink will be very popular.

Exactly how these devices are triggered has not been disclosed for security purposes.

Apparently they can't rule out accidents caused by amorous partners inadvertently triggering the device, so they are considering issuing reversible badges so they can indicate to partners when the device is alive.
OH DEAR, I FORGOT!

Racism Hidden or just hiding

Racism is an infection of civilised society.
have Australians caught the disease
just Maybe!

It is vile, revolting, and breeding well. It appears we aren't capable of eradicating it. It seems always to return, no matter what we do to stamp it out.

Do we need it, not on your life!

We've seen it with every wave of immigration, the races change but the words are always the same.

There have been plenty of reminders about this unfortunate fact of life. We all will remember the video footage of a racist attack directed at a young French student woman on a bus last year in Melbourne.

In Sydney during the Easter weekend we had a man on a city bus launched a racist tirade against an Asian family from Korea(who were on holiday here) The audience on the bus were unmoved, not willing to even show distaste at the ranting.

Then of course earlier this year, also in Sydney a newsreader Jeremy Fernandez copped racial abuse while on a bus with his young daughter.

Such episodes happen often on a daily basis, every incident that gets mentioned by someone on their mobile phone is noticed but what of the others?

Many others go unnoticed and undocumented. This time the video footage of racism does add a new dimension.

Where once it may have been possible to avoid ever seeing the nasty face of bigotry, it is no longer invisible.

WHAT COLOUR IS THIS!

ABBOTT LOVES THE RICH....BUT NOT THE AVERAGE WORKER!

HERE GOES THE FAVOURITE WORD AGAIN
NO!!!
Danger warning, warning, warning

Tony Abbott immediately hit out at the planned reforms to superannuation describing them as “another broken promise” that would result in less money in the pockets of Australians.
Who are these people who will be treated so badly, you guessed it the RICH, shock horror!
The changes would affect ONLY individuals with around $2 million of savings in superannuation and will take affect from July 1 next year.
Treasury estimates around 16,000 Australians will be affected by the measure in 2014-15 which represents 0.4 per cent of Australia's projected 4.1 million retirees in that year.
So 0.4% of the population deserve Tony's support but the rest do not!
Come on Tony you can't be fair dinkum mate, was it Gina or Rupert that rang you, it sure soundS like it.
Where is the average guy you are always trying to display, is it all a front as some say, or have you really got enough ticker to take on the rich 0.4%.
